Clinical Supervisor, JR 032

Summary: Under the  general  supervision of director, Clinical Supervisor provides a spectrum of direct services, administrative tasks, and clinical oversight in support of members assigned to the program. Provides clinical consultation, supervision, and support to TAY FSP staff, pre-licensed staff and interns as assigned. Provides a broad range of clinical coordination and training for staff and support to Program Director as directed. A successful Clinical Supervisor would utilize the Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery principles reflected in MHALA’s mission to facilitate the program member’s ability to perform their best at home, school, work, and/or community setting of choice while strengthening the coordination of clinical services among staff.

Program Overview

TAY Academy provides community-based services to young adults between the ages of 18-25 whom are experiencing mental illness, to support them in transitioning into adulthood by helping them achieve their quality of life goals including but not limited to a stable place to live, employment, education, and relationships.

Supervision Responsibilities: Provides clinical supervision for field placement interns, pre-licensed staff and TAY FSP staff. Leadership responsibilities for TAY FSP staff related to clinical activities (i.e. group therapy/rehabilitation), ethical concerns, and other practice related issues. Assists in providing direct supervision to assigned team members based on psychosocial rehabilitation model of treatment and services.

  •  Provides guidance and consultation to staff, interns, and pre-licensed staff including but not limited to practice issues, boundaries, ethical behavior, case consultation, documentation, and emerging practiced in an individual and group setting.
  •  Provides licensed dependent mental health services as needed to members including therapy, assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and case management.  
  •  Will oversee, review, and coordinate all assessments, treatment plans, and clinical documentation in accordance with MHALA, LACDMH County Contracted Provider standards and funding source requirements, and documents in EHR for the TAY Academy (FSP).  
  •  Maintain a clear license in order to sign off on documentation for non-licensed staff as needed (i.e. AFA, RPs) and to continue to provide clinical supervision per CA BBS rules and regulations.
  •  Assumes leadership or delegates leadership of the day-to-day operations of the team as needed or as directed by the program director.
  • Must be able to assess mental health concerns and document appropriately in Adult Full Assessment, Adult Reassessment, and other formats as required by the agency and LACDMH. Must be able to develop a Recovery Plan / Service Plan / Client Coordination of Care Plan that identifies Wellness Center Program Participants needs and goals and arrange coordination of supportive services on-site and in the community.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform service coordination functions of assessing, planning, linking, monitoring, advocating, engaging and providing therapy for TAY Academy (FSP) Participants in all stages of recovery/change and support staff to provide these services.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to monitor overall quality of care, the delivery of supportive services, fidelity and adherence to best practices, promising practices and Evidenced-Based Practices (EBP) through participation in Quality assurance, Quality improvement, and case review activities and through tracking and oversight and outcome data.

Position requirements:

  • MSW or MFT with a valid LCSW or LMFT  required
  • Or registration as ASW/AMFT with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences AND must be working towards LCSW/LMFT licensure.
  • Two years of psychosocial rehab experience preferred
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate the skills and ability to observe, notice, reflect on and report thoughts, emotions and/or physical sensations experienced when engaged in decision making and interactions with others in the performance of duties and tasks related to the position.
  • Must have an ability to provide supervision and consultation to staff on clinical related concerns, ethics, boundaries, and general practice.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage administrative tasks and consistently meet compliance elements.
  • Must be team-oriented, self-directed, have good listening and communication skills, the ability to empathize and relate positively to a wide variety of people and dedicated to fulfilling the demands of the position.
  • Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines; have the ability to prioritize, organize, and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Must possess basic typing and computer skills and be knowledgeable in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be team-oriented, self-directed, have good listening and communication skills, the ability to empathize and relate positively to a wide variety of people and dedicated to fulfilling the demands of the position.
  • Must be proficient with reading, speaking and writing English.
  • Must be able to able to work flexible schedule (occasionally work outside normal business hours).
  • Must possess a current class C driver’s license, a vehicle for transportation, proof of valid automobile insurance, the ability to be ensured by MHALA liability insurance are conditions of employment.
  • TB Clearance and re-testing every year are conditions of continued employment.
